Pokédex Redesign

As part of a graphic design course, I had the freedom to redesign and improve upon a preexisting work. I ended up choosing the data-heavy Pokédex book published by The Pokémon Company, a companion encyclopedia/game guide for the hit franchise of the same name. Featured below is the final draft of my redesign, the full original layout, and a written case study regarding my creative process.

Not only did I successfully deconstruct preexisting work without sacrificing its intentionality and meaning, but I also expanded its goals using graphic design principles and theories I learned in class. In the case of complex data tables and numerical information, I was able to stylistically and clearly incorporate large amounts of complex figures, charts, and images. This difficult feat took many hours of careful work in order to reach a satisfactory end product; even when the process became frustratingly difficult, my drive to constantly workshop, edit, and improve my work never ceased.
